Homemade solutions to make your home smell like Christmas!
Festive stove simmer
Possibly the most satisfying way to make your home smell like Christmas is to whip up an amazing Christmas stove simmer!

A stove simmer is just a big pot of water with a load of delicious smelling ingredients in it, which you leave simmering on your stove.
These things make your home smell amazing!!
All you have to do is throw in whatever Christmas scented lovelies take your fancy, and keep an eye on it so you can top up the water every so often.
Great ingredients for a fantastic Christmas stove simmer include cloves, cinnamon sticks, oranges, fresh cranberries, nutmeg and vanilla.
Try a simple combination of half an orange (sliced), 3 cinnamon sticks, a teaspoon of cloves and a handful of fresh cranberries to get started.
This is one trick that is certain to make your home smell like Christmas really fast!
Don’t forget to keep a close eye on your pot, and never leave it unattended or around children!
Diffuse a Christmas scent

My other favorite way to get my home smelling festive is to use my trusty electronic aromatherapy diffuser.
As you’ll know if you’ve read any of my other posts (like this one on how to make your home smell like coffee– yum), I love these things!
I like to mix 3 drops of cinnamon essential oil and 3 drops of peppermint essential oil for a gorgeously uplifting festive fragrance.
You can also experiment with other Christmasy essential oils like pine, frankincense, clove, sweet orange and nutmeg.
Remember to check out the safety guidelines for the oils you’re thinking of using – for example some essential oils aren’t recommended during pregnancy or for children or pets.
