Coffee scented candles

Now, as I’m going to show you, there are lots of ways to make your home smell like coffee without candles – but let’s get this obvious one out of the way first!
To be fair, there’s a good reason that coffee scented candles are the first thing most people turn to when they’re after a gorgeous coffee aroma. It’s because they work really well!
There are a couple of ways you can create your own delicious smelling coffee candles, and then I’ll show you a really good shop bought option.
Let’s start off with the simplest way to make your own ‘coffee candles’!
Just grab yourself a pretty cup or jar, a bag of coffee beans, and a tealight – you can try a vanilla scented one for a nice mix of fragrances.
Just fill your cup up with the coffee beans and nestle the tealight in at the top of the cup – et voila! The heat from the tealight will warm up to coffee beans so that they release a subtle aroma – yum!
You can see how it’s done in this quick vid…
It goes without saying that for this method, and any method that involves burning candles, don’t leave them burning when you’re not in the room and always take care not to place them by anything flammable or any children!
The next option for making your own coffee candles is a little more ‘crafty’ but still easy to do, then the pre-made candle!
Get yourself 8-10 tealights, some long candle wick, a jelly jar or something similar, and some coffee grounds.
Now burn the tealights until the wax has melted, and carefully pour the wax into the jar with the wick, layering with coffee grounds as you go. Once it solidifies you will have your own delicious smelling homemade coffee candle!
If you want a quick fix and would rather not faff around with making your own coffee candles, this sumptuous coffee candle will do an amazing job of making your room smell like coffee!…
Coffee air-fresheners
Right, let’s move on to some of the ways you can make your home smell like coffee, without candles!
First up, a cheap and cheerful hack for a homemade coffee airfreshner.
Just grab yourself an old pair of stockings, and yes, they do have to be clean.
Fill up one of the ‘feet’ as full as you like with whole coffee beans.
Then just hang them where ever you would like a delicious coffee smell!
Granted, this isn’t going to be the most attractive coffee scented air freshener around, so it’s particularly good for small spaces like closets.
If you want something a bit prettier, find yourself a gorgeous china teacup – or any other lovely container – and simply fill it with coffee beans!
This will only give off a subtle scent, but it should be enough to get a nice ‘waft’ whenever you walk past!
For a fantastic ready made alternative, these coffee scented sachets are perfect!
If you’re after something a little less subtle, then you can try a variation on traditional air freshners with a…
Coffee scented aromatherapy diffuser
I’ve been a massive fan of aromatherapy diffusers ever since I discovered that they’re a fantastic drug-free way to relieve nasal congestion!
This may not sound like such a big deal, but trust me if you’re a pregnant mom who can’t take any cold remedies, and/or you have a screaming baby who’s too little for medication, they’re a god-send!
Anyway, I’ve gone off on a tangent there, the point was meant to be that these little babies are a fantastic way to make your home smell like coffee – or anything else for that matter!
A good electronic diffuser is a fantastic investment if you want to keep your home smelling fresh or add a particular fragrance… like coffee scent.
Simply get yourself a gorgeous diffuser like this one (stylish and great value – with a ton of 5 star reviews on Amazon – impressive!) and add some irresistible ‘Coffee Shop’ fragrance oils.
Then, sit back, and enjoy.
Coffee scented soap
If you’re a proper coffee addict and just can’t get enough of the smell, then consider adding little bursts of coffee fragrance throughout your home!
One way of doing this is by stocking up your kitchen and bathrooms with some gorgeous coffee-scented soap.
For this one you can choose to either make your own, or treat yourself to something a bit special, or go somewhere in between (I’ll explain)!
Making your own coffee scented soap is relatively easy, you just need to get yourself some ‘melt and pour soap base’.
I’ve had a scope round and come up with these two methods for making your own coffee soap. I’d try the first if you’re a beginner, and the second if you’re after something a bit fancy:
If both of these two options seem too much like hard work to you (I’m with you), but you still want something home made, may I suggest grabbing yourself some fragrance free liquid soap and the coffee shop fragrance oils we talked about above, and simply get mixing.
And if that still seems like a bit of a faff, then invest in this gorgeous coffee and oatmeal organic soap bar – yum!
Coffee fridge deodorizer
Here’s a nice quick and simple one for you!
If you have a slightly pongy fridge, just fill a small bowl with coffee grounds and stick it at the back of your fridge.
The coffee grounds will absorb any nasty whiffs, et voila – a fresh smelling fridge!
Oven-roasted green coffee beans to make your house smell like coffee!
Roasting some fresh green coffee beans in your oven will give you a gorgeous smelling home and amazing tasting coffee!
The video below explains how to do it. Basically you just add around half a pound of green coffee beans to a baking tray, and put it in the oven at 500 degrees for up to around 10 minutes. Stay next to the oven to listen out for the popping/cracking sound – when it stops you know that it’s time to take your beans out!
And finally… make yourself some coffee!
Without a doubt, the most satisfying way to make your home smell like coffee is simply to make yourself some amazing coffee!
Nothing beats the true aroma of good fresh coffee, and the ritual of making yourself some proper coffee is like a little treat to you too!
To make some awesome coffee, you can invest in a gorgeous all-singing-all-dancing high-tech piece of machinery, or you can go ultra low-budget, or find a nice mid-way point!
I searched Amazon for the coffee-makers with the best reviews that looked amazing and promised to make gorgeous coffee – and came up with one ‘winner’ in each price range.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post on how to make your home smell like coffee… now go and put your feet up and enjoy a lovely cup of your favorite brew!

This sleek looking contraption is the Breville Barista Express Coffee Machine. It gets RAVE reviews and is generally considered a perfect all round buy for anyone who’s ready to invest in a ‘proper’ coffee machine! It comes in at $699.95 – so that works out at about $1.90 a day for your morning coffee over the course of a year. It doesn’t seem so much when you think of it that way! A solid bet for a mid-price option, this Gevi Espresso Machine ($141.99) has an insane number of 5 star reviews and looks stunning.
